Glossary
A quick reference for the words used throughout this guide.
Admin area — the web control panel where you manage your salon: calendar, services, team, reports and settings.
Booking — an appointment. It has a customer, one or more services, a time, and a team member (or none yet).
Booking policy — your rules for how bookings behave: auto-confirm, cancellation notice, and deposits. Set in Settings.
Business hours — your salon's opening times for each day of the week. Nothing can be booked when you're closed.
Capture — taking (charging) a payment that was previously authorised. Appears in your payments list.
Category — a group of related services, e.g. Haircuts or Colour, used to organise your menu.
Deposit — a part-payment a customer makes when booking, to reduce no-shows.
Loyalty program — a reward scheme for regulars: a visit-based stamp card, or a points-based scheme.
No show — a booking status for a customer who didn't turn up.
Override — a one-off change to a team member's work schedule on a specific date (special hours or a day off), replacing their regular pattern for that day.
Public booking page — the page your customers use to book you online.
Refund — money returned to a customer, recorded against the original payment.
Self-pick — a staff member taking on an unassigned job themselves, from the Jobs tab in the app.
Service — a treatment customers can book, with a price and a duration.
Staff / team member — a person who takes appointments. May or may not have login access.
Stamp card — a visit-based loyalty program: collect stamps, earn a reward.
Unassigned booking — a booking with no team member yet (often an online "any available"). It sits in the Unassigned column until someone takes it.
VAT / MVA — value-added tax. Your revenue is broken down by VAT rate in Reports.
Void — cancelling a payment before it's been captured, so the customer is never charged.
Walk-in — a customer who arrives without an appointment.
